This is a weird one

You know what I have been spending a lot of time lately daydreaming about? What life would have been like, living in 100 C.E.

Does anyone else ever do this? Wonder, seriously wonder, what it would mean to live in a different culture and era, without today's influences to color your thoughts on the matter?

I have a feeling that it was a very fanatical time. But I can only see it through the eyes of a 21st century girl. I imagine the people of that age coming and living in today's. Like all the prophets. Do you know who I see them as in today's world?

Roller skating Richard Simonnses in those circa 1970 baggy nylon Daisy Duke shorts. They'd be holding up handmade The Apocolypse Is Coming! signs and harassing people on street corners. Only, they'd be taken seriously and converting people left and right.

Of course, Republicans would be the Pharisees. Pat Buchanan would be red-faced and spittle spraying when confronted with the notion that God didn't like him screwing sheep on the sly anymore. Heretic!, he would shout.

Romans. Who would be the Roman pagans? I haven't quite figured that one out yet. I mean, who in today's society would support deifying murdered slave boy prostitutes who were not considered abused, but well-loved companions? That one's tough. Maybe John Ashcroft? Trent Lott? I'll have to mull that one over some more.

Who in today's society would consider spermatophagic orgies as the only true way to transcend our humanity and commune with the Gods? I'm thinking Clinton, hands down. Him and RuPaul. Although, Scientology Founder L. Ron "SCIENTOLOGY: 'knowing how to know.'" Hubbard might be a good fit into this category as well.

How in the world did that era produce the greatest and most enduring philosophies, art, and political systems the world has ever seen? When did they find the time? I'm completely baffled.
