One day soon I will rant about this topic

Sleepy.. very very sleepy. But I want to bookmark this particular very important topic for in-depth discussion at a later date - when I can use big words and thoughts concisely and with due reason.

Children in American society. Contemporary American society's rapid descent into punishing children for their inability to be perfect miniture adults. I have very strong feelings about this, people. I warn you now.

It angers me when I hear schools talk of expelling troubled teens; the ones who experiment with drugs, the ones who use apathy and incorrigibility as a shield against things they aren't even mature enough to grasp and deal with authoritively.

It angers when schools force parents into medicating their children, just so those parents can adhere to the law of keeping their children in the educational system. Children should not be medicated, people. Childhood is a process of development and learning, and believe it or not, they don't all do it at the same pace or in the same order. And yes it is our jobs, as parents and educators, to be the grown-ups and deal with the issues that trouble our children. Just because some children have difficulty at a particular stage does not mean we can give up on them, nor does it mean that we can abandon responsibility to adequately socialize them. What it means is, we have to redouble our efforts and resolve, and creativity, in order to teach the children who aren't so easy.

Just because children are not always easy or perfect does not give us license to abandon them to their own devices.

So, there it is, a bookmark for discussion. You know, when my brain isn't rebelling.
